Mother-son trip to San Diego

This past weekend I decided it was time to go visit my dad in San Diego.
I decided to go at 9:30am on Friday and we were on the road at 4pm (after packing, getting an oil change, new tires and a goodbye visit to Dave at work).

I was super nervous because in all of the 2 1/2 years of Owyn's life, Ive never been with him alone for more than a day. I was so proud of his behavior, he was such a good boy for the 6 hour drive and all weekend (even in restaurants!). He always behaves better when he only has one parent with him, but if he has both of us, he's gets too excited and wild. It's strange. We can't even do story time together at night or he'll just acts crazy.

We always love going to see Dad and Wendy because we could sit at the house all day and still have a beautiful and relaxing weekend. I'm ready to move in with them! This weekend we:

ate a lot of delicious food (Wendy made bacon pancakes, yum!),
played all day long on the porch,
taught Owyn how to use chop sticks which he is very good at,
skipped bathing and stayed in the same clothes for two days (owyn only),
dad waxed my car  (as usual),
played at the beach,
ate a huge breakfast at a breakfast joint Woopi Goldberg worked at,
played at the park on Shelter Island,
taunted the dogs. a lot,
and missed Dave. a lot.

We left Dave behind because he's saving vacation days for when baby comes. We missed him, but I was glad to give him a weekend to himself. He deserves it.

San Diego Part 5: Labor Day Fiesta and Farewell

It's already Thursday and Im still missing San Diego.
It was so relaxing. My skin is craving the cool weather to an extreme!

Monday afternoon we gathered at a neighbor/friends house and enjoyed a delicious spread. There were many other young children which was neat, because I love watching Owyn around kids. He just adores them. Especially older boys. He stares at them with interest and curiosity.

San Diego Part 4: Labor Day Morning

Monday morning Dad and Wendy took us to breakfast in OB and then to the beautiful Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

San Diego Part 3: Our Playground

Sunday we went to breakfast, Shelter Island (to let Owyn play on the playground), Stone Brewery (for Dave), and roasted hot dogs over a fire on the beach.

I miss it already.

Daddy and Owyn. They are so cute together. Best buds. Owyn is a total Daddy's boy. But I don't mind, I actually love it. Plus, someday ill have a girl, and she'll want to be just like me. Hopefully.

San Diego Part 2: Discovering Owyn's Passion

From the moment we set Owyn down in the sand, we knew he was born to be on the beach.

Not only was he loving the sand but he wanted to splash around in the 62 degree water so bad.

I've never seen him so happy. He was so content playing in the sand and I can't begin to explain his excitement for the water.

The first day we were in SD we went boating around the Bay with neighbors and enjoyed music, wine and h'ordeuvres.
Owyn absolutely loved the Ocean and everything to do with it.

Road Trippin

This begins my documentation of our first Fall vacation visiting the Grand-dude and Wendy in Point Loma.

We had so much fun and Owyn was such a good boy.

WARNING: Many, many, MANY pictures to come.
