Just Keep Swimming

I'm pretty sure we just had the caziest week of our lives.

I am so relieved its over.

I know I've said it before, but if it wasn't for Dave's mother, we wouldn't be able to do half of the things we do.

Wednesday I didn't get home till 12:40am (working on visuals), I went to school in the morning and got off at 4pm, and worked until 12:30 AGAIN on Thursday! And today I met my group early in the morning (for gallery exhibitions) and had class till 2pm. Oh AND I had 3 papers due AND a HUGE project due the past 2 days! Sound exhausting?? It is.

Dave has been working 12 hours almost everyday of the work week, and going in on Saturdays. We are both very tired. Dave works so hard. And does a very well job at supporting us. I don't know how he works so late, wakes up with the baby so early (most days, since I'm a bad girl) and still always gets the kitchen clean every morning, pays the bills, and goes in for another day of work without ever complaining (unlike me). I admire his work ethic. He gets joy out of providing for his family.

All we can do is just keep swimming (from Nemo, one of Owyn's favorites).

We both wish we could stay home and play with Owyn all day long.

{I love this picture, but Owyn looks terrified}

The past week we had some really great weather. Rain, clouds, cold, breeze. RARE!

Im keeping my fingers crossed for another!

I wish you all the best, most relaxing weekend!  Sleep in and eat fried food!

My New Obsession with Panko

This weekend I discovered Panko.
An Asian flaky breading that can be purchased at the grocery store.

All you need to do is submerge the subject in egg and transfer to a mixture of
1 part panko, 1 part parmesan cheese. And of course, fry (or bake).

Easiest, yummiest way to make fried food.
I scrounged around my fridge trying to see what I could fry.

I made fried zucchini and chicken parmigiana.
Yuuummmm...

I think i gained another 3lbs. this weekend.

Owyn's Laugh Attack

Yesterday Owyn was having a serious laugh attack.

You know when you get them, and then you finally
stop laughing, and randomly it starts up again? That's what he was doing.
I set him in his car seat and we drove to Sunflower Market and he was laughing the entire way.

He is so silly.

P.S. Sorry for the low quality of the video (it was my cell phone)

Running on a Full Tank.

I wish you all knew how insane Owyn is.
This kids energy tank never goes empty. Not even close.

It could be the massive amounts of sugar free soy ice white mochas he drinks everyday?

Like mother like son.

 {before you judge, no he did not really have a drink of my mocha. babies don't suck thru straws.}
{{great shot of my one-of-a-kind thumbs!}}

Now that Owyn stands, it's of course, not good enough.
Now he is using object, such as this one, as walkers.
He pushes it along.

He is also babbling none stop.
Some times it starts as a cry and ends in words.
Other times it's vis-versa.

His favorites are..

Mamamamamama
Dadadadada
Goygoygoygoygoy ((?) my fav)

What did you do for your valentine?

I will admit.. I didn't get Dave anything. Not even a card.
But I did tear apart my closet in search for a perfect valentines outfit.

Dave took me out to Cafe Boa
I can't explain how delicious the food was. Or the wine.
I got some great ideas for new dinner recipes.

He also gave me this beautiful necklace with Owyn's name.

Happy Birthday Hodgepodge!

Today is the Home-style Hodgepodge first birthday

My Valentine, "The DM"

David Christopher.

A.K.A.
"Dave"
"The D.M." (Decision maker)
"Head of the Household"

For those of you who don't know Dave, you're not missin much.
HAH Just kidding!

Dave is one of the funniest and the smartest people I know.
After all, the funniest people are usually smart.

The other night I was laying on the couch, cold and falling asleep, and I said to Dave,
"cover me".  What did he do?

He fell to the ground, loaded his imaginary machine gun and started shooting.
No idea who or what he was "covering" me from, but it wasn't exactly what I meant.
It did make me laugh really hard though.

that's why I choose him to be my valentine.
Oh man, I love that guy.

Thoughts that run through my head time to time

I have a strong feeling I'm getting closer and closer to my breaking point.
 Sometimes I forget to breath.
And shower. (the other day Dave felt my stubbly armpits and said "what's this?") Ooops.

Let me just tell you what tomorrow looks like:
6:30am- wake up feed/change Owyn
7:30-8:30am-Check emails, check grades, make sure I have all my homework ready
8:30- 10:00am- get ourselves ready
10:00am- take Owyn to his Grandma's and ride my bike to school
10:30- 2:45pm- classes
 3:00-4:00pm- practicum
5:00-9:30pm- work
end the day with checking email, and working on school work.

See how this could drive me to my breaking point?
What is my breaking point? I have no idea.
All day long I find myself thinking "maybe I can just drop my classes" or
"maybe I can just get C's so I'm not loosing all my money".

The issue is, I can't drop because I will loose the thousands of dollars I put into this semester
sand I can't get C's because I'll get dropped out of my program.

So basically I have to stick it out.
And remember to breath. Not to mention be very very thankful I get soo much help from Dave's mom.

Only 3 more months and it will be over.
I can relax, take naps with Owyn, and decorate our house!!!

As much as I anticipate these joys,
I have found that it's a lot easier to stay sane by focusing on the present.

I know I'm complaining, but I think we all deserve it every once in a while.
Please forgive me.

My 4th Spring Semester of College.

I've been too busy to post about school.

It's so great being back on campus. No more online!
I am taking the best courses this semester. And great new...

I only have one semester left!!!

If I didn't decide to change my majors, Id be done after this semester.

I have been meeting the most amazing and intelligent people.

I'm taking Chinese painting and found a new appreciation for Eastern Art.
I am in a seminar on Visual Culture which is so interesting. Fifteen of us students get together
and discuss our reading and I love listening to how everyone interprets images differently.
I am also doing a practicum on Gallery Exhibitions which I absolutely love. Of course.
I get to coordinate a few different exhibitions that will take place in the various galleries on campus.
I also get to meet amazing artists, and do gallery sittings every week (watching over the Step Gallery).
And, I have a Public Admin class that's teaching me about our government, basically.

So far, so good.

Here's what I see on average day on campus:

This Kid Never Stops.

Owyn is the perfect mix of me and Dave.
We both want to do things all on our own.
Owyn is exactly like this. He wants to do everything.

and he never stops until then.

Once he accomplishes one task, he doesn't waste any time and moves to the next.
His new goal.... stand on his own. He pulls him self up onto everything.

Even onto myself!
If Im laying on the floor, or with him on the bed,
he crawls over with excitement and pulls himself onto my body and tries to stand.

He's now got his eye on Daddy's guitar.
He wants it so bad!

Another Weekend Gone.

We spent this weekend relaxing, working,
sleeping and house hunting.

And of course, riding Mr. Bend Folds.
