Stone Brewery

The moment we arrived to Point Loma last Sunday my dad piled us into the car and headed to Escondido to visit the fascinating Stone Brewery because Stone is Dave's fav. We ate delicious burgers while enjoying the gothic style and gargoyles.

Of course we couldn't go without bringing home a growler so we did and enjoyed it on dad's deck the next night.

And we got Owyn this onsie. Ha! Love it.

Chicken Alfredo and Sharing Parenthood

Last night I fell asleep on the couch. I was feeling very nauseated and was trying to keep down the chicken alfredo Dave made for dinner.

Now I am not a huge fan of alfredo. Something about white creaming things just screams saddlebags so the idea of spewing alfredo is really unsettling.

*Now let me just note that it isn't the alfredo that made me feel sick. Out of all the alfredo I've had it was the best, Dave and I love the dinners you make me. <3

Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night and went into bed to find the sweetest thing ever. Owyn was sleeping in the nook of Dave's armpit all snuggled up to him. Even in his sleep you can see Dave's protective daddy instinct. And the cutest thing of all they were holding hands.

There's something magical about becoming a parent. It's as if a new part of your brain switches on. There are feeling you've never felt before and thoughts you've never thought before. I love how I get to share this experience with someone I love so dearly. The bond between two who become parents is so precious. We are partners in the most important job in both our lives. And nothing can break this bond.

Not even having to eat chicken alfredo every once in a while.

Being a good mom is..

teaching your child everything you know about life.

And if there is one thing I know, it's that sticking your but up in the air helps the gas escape.

It's physics.

Lets get serious.

Apparently I need to get more serious.

I've recently realized, with the help of some, that there is a time to be serious. I however use humor as a defense mechanism. Instead of showing my feelings I find it more necessary to make jokes. This is defense mechanism #5 so Dave tells me, and what do you know, it's most common in middle children. Gosh darn it! Why oh why did I have to be in the middle. I'm not even a full middle child I'm only a half! (since my younger brother is a half bro).

Sooo... I'm working on being more serious. When I find it appropriate.

Expect some serious postings.

Game Night

Last night was game night. Oh how I love game night. Our first "date" was spent doing a puzzle so any type of game/puzzle playing with my sweetie is dear to my heart.

Last night's games consisted of scrabble and worst-case scenario.

First of all, I am horrible at scrabble because I can't spell worth crap-o-la. You might have noticed :) please forgive me! Almost everytime it's my turn to lay down a word I pause.. " wait.. how do you spell ______?"

Second of all, worst case scenario is the funniest game I've ever played. It gets me everytime. I couldn't even read out the questions on the cards because they had me in tears. I can't stress enough how badly you need to go out right now and get this game and play it. Immediately!!

Kabuki

Friday night we went to the Japanese restaurant Kabuki and it was delicious! We had calamari, edamame, sushi, ginger salad and great teriyaki beef. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

..then we went to World Market to pick up some goods.

Midterm Week

This week has been one of the roughest since we've brought Owyn home.

I have spent all my time buried in my studies during the time Dave isn't at work.

Today I finally went in to take my midterm exams. (the last day they're open)

One of my classes is a science class that I've put off for 3 years.

I just thought I'd share with you that I got a 100% on my written exam and my professor told me that in all his years of teaching I'm only the 2nd to ever receive a 100%.

So I guess Ill just go give myself a pat on the back now.

I have felt a weakening in my faith lately. I've been so busy trying to keep up with life that I've been loosing sight of what it's really about.

For a while before Owyn was born I was reading the bible before bed every night and it kept my on track but I havn't had much time to myself non the less reading time I could spend away from a text book.

If anyone has any encouraging words or spiritual inspiration please send them my way!

Cartel Coffee Lab
