Storyboard

As you know, I am super excited about decorating the house.

I've never been able to paint and do fun projects to an entire house!
I've done little things to the apartment but I definitly havn't spent the time and money to decorate the way I want.

Im going a little crazy because there are so many rooms to decorate I don't know where to start.
there are 3 rooms, 3 bathrooms, an entry, a living room AND a family room, a dining room and a kitchen.

I've put together a storyboard to collaborate my ideas and inspirations on paper.
There's a page for each room.

Hopefully this will make it a lot easier.

House Update and Little Surprises

This morning we had the house inspection.
So far so good. We are soooo close to closing!

Our original closing date was April 15, but we're trying to push it back to the 30th.

Everytime I go to the house I fall more inlove with it.
Everytime, I discover little things that give it so much character...
and everytime, I loose my family in it. the house is large, has an interesting layout and has a ton of hiding spots.

three lovely surprises from today..

1.) our entire backyard is canopied by the mature trees that are scattered throughout, shading the entire yard from any angle of sun rays.

{this is only half the yard. it HUGE}

2.) little flower beds below our bedroom window which is on the side of the house where I plan to plant a vegetable garden.

3.) walk-through closet that leads from the hall bath to one of the master bedrooms (house has 2 master beds). Very strange, but perfect hiding spot for the kids.

I'm sure we'll only continue to find neat little things about this home.

Kitchen Twin/ Inspiration

The first time I showed my sister, Whitney, pictures of our soon-to-be house,
we chuckled over the kitchen.

Nothing matches! Not only are the top cabinets white and the bottom black,
but every appliance is a different color as well.

I thought our sad 1950's some-what of an updated kitchen was going to need a LOT of work.
Especially considering how much time Dave and I spend in the kitchen.
(We both fight over who gets to cook dinner.)
It was the first room Dave ran to when we were looking for homes.
If the house had a room he could make his band room and a nice kitchen, he was sold!

Yesterday I stumble upon faith while searching through my DIY magazine.

This kitchen is almost exactly the same as ours! Weird...
Top cabinets white, bottom black. outdated white tile. tiled back splash. black counters.
same exact light fixture! AND mix-matched appliances.
The before kitchen from the magazine was even red.

And guess what, it looks great!

I thought I wanted to reface the cabinets and redo the floors (black and white checker).
But my new plan is to paint, of course, and re-tile the back splash with COLOR!
It won't be blue like this one though.

I see lots of new hope for the kitchen!

 {notice how my magazine page is crumbled? i have a little doggy that can't seem to stay away from my magazines. his name is Owyn}

In the spirit of announcements

I am sooooo happy to announce that..

we have received the official approval for the house!

I am going crazy thinking about all the things I want to do to the house.
but, I keep them to myself. If I told Dave all the things I wanted to do he'd probably
a) think I was insane
b) think I was going to bankrupt us

the door that will soon be welcoming us home :)
in our quaint little historic neighborhood.

Living Room Inspiration

I am soooo excited about the house!

I can't wait till we're in it!

Since its officially Spring break, I have decided to dedicate my down time to searching for design inspiration.
How easy is it these post-modern days for interior designers?? Really. It's everywhere!

Here is something I found that I would love to do to our living room.

{ Pictures 1 & 3 are from design sponge and 2 & 4 are pictures
I took of the front living room and dining area from The House}

I can't wait!!

Now this news is sad.. but also good!

One of the 6 classes I need to graduate is not available this summer or fall..
therefore, I have to take it during Spring, and will not graduate until then.

but, this means I can spread out my classes and have an easy year!
wahoo!

From the list.

I made a list of things I want for Dave to follow.

It was a long list. I wanted to give him options. But I ended up receiving all but 2 of the things on my list.

A quilt was on my list. This is what I opened...

So this is what I picked out...

Ha. He makes me laugh.

Homemade Holiday

I've been working hard with my paper, glitter and glue pen to add a personal touch to our holiday decor. It's sort of becoming an obsession.

Where would we be without the Martha Stewart craft supplies??

Welcome home

I moved into Dave's apartment last weekend.
It was sad, yet exciting. This was my old house. Goodbye square door. I won't live in the coolest house in the neighborhood anymore. It is nice for both of us though now. I get a comfortable home and since I don't work I get to take care of the chores around the apartment so Dave doesn't have to worry about them when he comes home. The bed is made, the dishes are clean and dinner is under control!

Ive made a few changes around the apt to make it more homey and so it doesnt look like a guy lives here. There is still a few things we'd like to do but here are some pics of the areas I got my hands on.

This is my art desk.
I was searching all over the antique shops for a neat small desk and I found a perfect one. I dont even need to paint it. I found it at my favorite antique shop Antique Trove. It was a super sweet deal because the dealer had all of his stuff 50% off. If you're ever looking for a steal, come to me. I got good shopping skills handed down to me from my mom.

I love this chair!
Its my favorite and I found it at my favorite Goodwill. Ive thought about reupholstering but its too pretty. I love the delicate faint floral design on it. I want to get an antique floor reading lamp and some wall decor, maybe a pillow. This table came as a set of three Dave got at another antique shop. Another sweet deal. I think they were like $40.

This is our bed.
If you look closely you can see the side tables are the other 2 from the set of three. One is gold, one is blue. All of the pictures were Dave's he gathered over the years. We both love antiques and Goodwill, its one of our favorite things to do together. All of my inspiration for the room came from this antique quilted blacket I found for $5! Its really neat because it snaps into a sleeping bad. ha. I am on the hunt for two old lamps for the sides of the bed. Either matching of similar and I can paint them to match.

Definatley a work in progress, but I am sure we will move before the baby is born so I might as well wait.
