Latest Projects and Plans

I'm so happy I have a break from school for a month. I've already began a few projects.
This weekends included:

Matted botanical prints on antique dictionary paper.
They hang in our bedroom. But I think I want 3 more.

I also have some news to share about my Spring plans.

a. I got a new job! A really great job. I will be the assistant Art Educator at the ASU Art Museum starting in January. I'm thrilled! I will finally get a pay check and will be getting the best experience.

b. I recently realized that I'm only 2 credits away from getting my B.A. in Art History and since I have been planning on graduating with my B.A. in Museum Studies in May, I'm going to continue into Summer (possibly Fall) and double major. Therefore I will have 2 B.A.'s. Exciting right?

So now I have to begin the petition process to prove that I am a good candidate for a dual major.

Beginning of a Lifetime Project

I started a new project in our dining room.
One that will continue for a lifetime.

I love sitting at the dining room table surrounded by memories.
It feels amazing.

I've had a really great life and we've had so many good times together, Dave and I.

It excites me to think about all the other memories we'll make that I can add to my photo walls.
I'm not sure what Ill do next with photos. Ill probably start by lining the door frame. Then who knows!

p.s. The first picture Owyn went for was a picture of himself with his Aunt Whitney.

Recent Crafty Projects

As you could imagine, I've been working on a lot of projects around the house.
Every weekend that approaches comes with a long list of projects. This house is starting to really come together. We're finally getting things up on the walls and we got a huge rug and couch for Dave's "band room" aka: the family room. I hope I can get all of these projects done before the shower and Owyn's b-day.

Here are two projects I recently finished:

Doily Wall Art:

My Grandma Nita gave me tons of her mother in-laws doily's, which made me very excited because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Now I need to find another purpose for all the extras I have. Aren't doily's the cutest thing?

Crane Mobile:

Last semester in Gallery Exhibitions I worked on an exhibit that was displayed in one of the hall annex' in the main Art building. This was it. It was a lot larger though. Each and every one of these cranes has been made by different individuals of all sorts and every one of them have a wish inside by their creator. And I got to take it home. And Owyn gets to enjoy this piece of art as he dozes off to dream land. Maybe when he's old enough to understand he can open them to remind him that we all wish for the same things.

Homemade Holiday

I've been working hard with my paper, glitter and glue pen to add a personal touch to our holiday decor. It's sort of becoming an obsession.

Where would we be without the Martha Stewart craft supplies??

This Hot Summer Weekend

This weekend was a hot one. I am so glad it's almost over.

Saturday Dave had his daddy boot camp class. I think he really enjoyed it. He came home and showed me everything he learned. Using a teddy bear. He learned all about changing the baby, swaddling him, baby proofing, feeding, bonding, discipline, and even some good advise for our relationship and how to work together. I love these classes and I love how involved he is. It makes me feel more at ease.

^Dave changed this bear's diaper and swaddled him up to show me his skills^

Saturday night we went on a little date to see the Pixar movie Up that I've been wanting to see. I loved it. I'm not totally sure whether it was the movie or popcorn I really wanted. Yumm.

After the movie we stopped at the store so Dave could get some wine and he surprised me flowers <3.

We are still doing a bunch of stuff around this place of ours. It's never ending.

Remember the Dr. Seuss sketches I made for the baby? Well we framed them and put them up. I love them.

Now I have a 10pg. research paper to work on which I have been blowing off all weekend and a delicious German meal to eat made by Dave's mom. :)

Prepare for Baby

This past week we have been preparing for our move.
I have so many projects I want to do it's hard to get myself to think about anything else. I'm trying to leave them for when we are actually in our new home and my summer midterms are taken care of. Sunday me and Dave got antsy and took everything off the walls and started to organize things. It's going to be hard not being able to move anything myself.

We have so many things to do before baby comes.
-get nursery ready
-wash baby clothes and bedding
- find pediatrician
- research meds and vaccinations
-research cord blood banking
- make playlists for the hospital
- decide on name!
- and do my best to get my body prepared for labor

We decided to do our own art work for the baby room. Instead of attempting to be creative I chose to sketch Dr. Seuss characters. I can't decide what characters I want or whether I want them colored or not. Decisions decisions.

Cut and Paste

I started a new project today.
Ive been needing a better way to organize my magazines and catalogs (my inspiration library I call it). Magazine holders are one of those odd objects you never really think about that can have a high price tag. Instead of paying $10 per holder I bought an inexpensive pack of cardboard holders at Ikea and wrapping paper to jazz them up. What a great idea. Not only did it save a bundle but it's been a fun project to do while watching movies and look how cute they are.

Projects

I started a new project last night for the nursery .
I put some of the left over fabric from the flags into frames and later I will put something on them. Either letters or silhouettes of animals or something. If you have any ideas let me know!
